CHPA members advocate for changes to the law governing dietary supplements to ensure greater transparency and consumer safety. We support the implementation of a Mandatory Product Listing that would require all manufacturers to provide the FDA with essential information about their products and ingredients. This important step would help retailers, consumers, and healthcare professionals to make informed decisions when it comes to selling, purchasing, and recommending dietary supplements.

We understand that implementing a Mandatory Product Listing involves the passage of a new law, which requires time and effort. However, we believe it is important to push for this change alongside other necessary modifications to dietary supplement regulations. Nonetheless, we also acknowledge the value of a voluntary product database as an interim solution.

To address the growing need for more information on dietary supplements available in the market, the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has developed the Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD). This valuable resource compiles comprehensive information obtained from the labels of dietary supplement products sold in the United States. CHPA members actively contribute to the DSLD, and consumers can conveniently access their products for review through the DSLD website.

It's important to understand that participation in the DSLD is voluntary and not a regulatory requirement. Consequently, there may be discrepancies between the information available in the DSLD and the current market environment. For the most up-to-date and accurate information about CHPA member products, we recommend visiting the manufacturer's website."
