CHPA President and CEO Scott Melville issued the following statement in response to Senator Johnny Isakson’s announced retirement:

“CHPA thanks Senator Isakson for his decades of service to the country and the U.S. Senate. We offer him our deepest gratitude for his steadfast dedication to better healthcare for millions of American consumers.”

“Senator Isakson has provided exemplary leadership around consumer healthcare issues related to over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. We applaud his tireless work to advance OTC Monograph reform over the last few years. Thanks to his support and unwavering commitment, we are closer than ever to modernizing the regulatory system that oversees the majority of OTC medicines. Senator Isakson’s influence and legislative expertise on consumer health-related issues will be missed when the Senator decides to step away from public life at the end of the year.

“We look forward to working with the Senator throughout the remainder of his term and wish him well in his retirement.”
