The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) released a statement commending the House of Representatives following its passage of H.R. 1996, the SAFE Banking Act.

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association released the following statement in response to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration report to Congress on the current cannabidiol marketplace.

Recognizing the urgent need to address confusion around the legal status of hemp and hemp derived CBD, AHPA, CHPA, CRN, and UNPA have been calling on Congress to provide FDA statutory authority and additional resources to regulate hemp and hemp-derived CBD as a dietary supplement.

CHPA, along with a wide coalition of organizations, co-signed a joint press release in support of the re-introduction of this bipartisan CBD bill.

This week, the four leading trade associations representing the U.S. dietary supplement industry joined forces to urge Congress to take action to ensure consumer safety and provide legal clarity in the CBD product marketplace.

Today CHPA submitted a citizen petition to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration urging the agency to exercise its existing statutory authority to swiftly issue regulations that establish a clear pathway for manufacturers to lawfully market cannabidiol in dietary supplements. 

CHPA today applauds the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for enforcing existing provisions in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act by sending warning letters to 15 companies illegally marketing cannabidiol products.
