CHPA to Testify in First Committee Hearing of 2021 for Massachusetts Legislature

CHPA is set to testify on Monday before the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Public Health. The hearing, which will be held virtually, is the first policy committee hearing for the Commonwealth’s legislature in 2021. Nearly 50 bills are scheduled to be considered during the hearing, including four bills on which CHPA will be testifying.

Because of FDA's safety concerns regarding the control and monitoring of levomethorphan, CHPA supports the control of levomethorphan as an impurity and respectfully submits the following comments regarding the proposed updates to the DXM monograph as proposed in the IRA published in PF 40(3).

New Results from Annual Survey Show Teen Misuse of OTC Cough Medicine Remains Very Low

The 2017 results from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and University of Michigan’s annual drug abuse survey were released today showing that the percentage of teens using OTC cough medicine containing DXM to get high remains at just three percent, the lowest level recorded since 2015.
