International Approaches to OTCs

CHPA works with related organizations around the world to advance responsible self-medication in the international arena and to keep abreast of issues of concern to the over-the-counter (OTC) medicine industry.

The laws and regulations for OTC medicines can vary widely around the world, including where and how they can be sold, which ingredients are available for which indications, and advertising requirements.

CHPA is a founding member of the Global Self-Care Federation, the global body representing manufacturers of nonprescription medicines. Global Self-Care Federation holds non-governmental organization status in official relations with the World Health Organization.
