CHPA Taps Former ACS Senior Executive to Head Association's Legal and Government Affairs Departments

Fish to serve dual role overseeing CHPA's legal department as well as its work on Capitol Hill

Washington, D.C. (October 24, 2006)—The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) is pleased to welcome Andrew C. Fish, CHPA’s senior vice president, legal & government affairs and general counsel, to lead the Association’s efforts to elevate CHPA’s presence on Capitol Hill as well as oversee the Association’s legal affairs. Fish, who comes to CHPA from the American Cancer Society (ACS), where he served since 2003 as the senior director of federal government relations, has accepted the daunting task of managing two of the Association’s busiest departments.

"We consider ourselves quite fortunate to have found a person with Andy’s professional background and experience to provide counsel and perspective to the Association," said CHPA President Linda A. Suydam, D.P.A. "Andy will serve as a fine addition to CHPA’s top brass as the Association looks to continue its efforts promoting the increasingly vital role of over-the-counter medicines and nutritional supplements in America's healthcare system."

Prior to his stint at the American Cancer Society, Fish was in private practice, specializing in regulatory issues concerning biotechnology, food, drugs, agriculture, and the environment. Additionally, as assistant U.S. secretary of agriculture for congressional relations and intergovernmental affairs during the final years of the Clinton Administration, Fish served as senior policy advisor to the Secretary while directing all of the congressional relations and legislative activity for the department. Fish also served for a number of years as counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture.
