Association growth continues with addition of eight new member companies

Washington, D.C. (June 18, 2013)—The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) welcomes two new executives to the CHPA Board of Directors, elected today at the association’s June board meeting. William E. Hawxhurst, Esq., associate general counsel at Church & Dwight Co., Inc.; and Michael Perfetto, chief commercial officer, Generic Rx, OTC, U.S.A. at  Taro Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc.;  will fill the seats previously held by Dr. Alfred J. Smetana and Bill Seiden respectively.

In his current position, Hawxhurst is the lead counsel for all the product groups within CHPA’s purview including dietary supplements and OTC medicines.  He joined Church & Dwight following 17 years with Bayer HealthCare LLC, where he held the position of vice president and assistant general counsel.  In that position he was a member of the Global Consumer Care Management Team, where he was responsible for the legal operations and oversaw all regulatory, commercial, litigation, and patent issues affecting Bayer’s Consumer Care Division.

Perfetto has more than 25 years of pharmaceutical sales and marketing experience. Prior to joining Taro Pharmaceuticals, Perfetto was with Actavis Inc., where he served as vice president of prescription sales and marketing.  He managed and directed an award-winning commercial team, which more than doubled generic sales since 2008 to more than $700 million annually.

The CHPA Board also approved active member applications from Dickinson Brands, Inc., Genomma Labs USA Inc., and Smith Brothers Company as well as associate member applications from Eventive Marketing, Rodan & Fields, LLC, ALeonard-Segal/MFurness Consulting, Little Big Brands, and McKinsey Incorporated, bringing CHPA’s membership number to 83 active members and 143 associate members.
