CHPA Elects Directors and Officers at Annual Executive Conference

Washington, D.C. (March 19, 2004)—Directors and officers of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) were elected today during the Association’s March 17-19 Annual Executive Conference. Timothy G. Hayes, senior vice president and region head, North America, Consumer Care Division, Bayer HealthCare LLC, was elected as board chair. Richard K. Green, chief operating officer, Blistex Inc., was named immediate past chair.

Elected to CHPA’s Board of Directors for the first time were:

  • John T. Hendrickson, executive vice president & general manager, Perrigo Consumer Healthcare;
  • John McKittrick, New York sales manager/drug category manager, Reader’s Digest;
  • George M. Quesnelle, president, North America, Consumer Healthcare, GlaxoSmithKline;
  • Bill Seiden, senior vice president, marketing & sales, Taro Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc.;
  • Michael A. Zeher, president and chief operating officer, Pharmaceutical Formulations, Inc.; and
  • Ted E. Ziemann, president, Cargill Health & Food Technologies.

Re-elected to the CHPA Board of Directors were:

  • Christopher B. Ascher, executive vice president, B.F. Ascher & Company, Inc.;
  • Charles J. Hinkaty, president, Del Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; and
  • Akiyoshi Yoshida, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer, The Mentholatum Company, Inc.

Returning to the CHPA board:

  • Michael J. Valentino, president and chief executive officer, Adams Respiratory Therapeutics.

Serving on the board ex officio as a committee chairs:

  • William E. Hawxhurst, vice president and assistant general counsel, Bayer Consumer Care (Government Affairs Committee chair);
  • Edwin L. Hemwall, Ph.D., vice president, Global Regulatory Affairs, Johnson & Johnson • Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals Co. (Scientific Affairs Committee chair);
  • Richard C. Norgard, director global manufacturing compliance, Consumer Healthcare Products, Pfizer Inc (Manufacturing Controls Committee chair);
  • Adam D. Raczkowski, executive vice president, chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and general manager, W.F. Young, Inc. (Business Development Committee chair); and
  • Catherine A. Sohn, Pharm.D., vice president, worldwide business development, and member of the executive committee, Consumer Healthcare, GlaxoSmithKline (International Affairs Committee chair).

Elected as vice chairs to CHPA’s Board of Directors for the first time were:

  • Gordon Knapp, president, Consumer Healthcare North America, Pfizer Inc;
  • Gary S. Matthews, president, Consumer Medicines, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company; and
  • Lynne Millheiser, senior vice president, OTC North America, Novartis Consumer Health, Inc.

Re-elected as vice chairs to CHPA’s Board of Directors were:

  • Patrick M. Lonergan, partner, president, NUMARK Laboratories;
  • William L. McComb, president, McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals; and
  • Douglas A. Rogers, president, U.S. Healthcare Division, Wyeth Consumer Healthcare.

Appointed to the CHPA Executive Committee for the first time were:
