CHPA Elects Sturman to Chair Its Board of Directors

President of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare tapped to lead association’s board

Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2011)—Members of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) last week elected Paul L. Sturman, president and general manager of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, to chair the association’s board. Sturman becomes CHPA’s 54th chair and succeeds Christopher D. DeWolf of Lil’ Drug Store Products, Inc. “As our nation seeks cost-effective healthcare options, CHPA is committed to demonstrating the role, value, and accessibility that over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements provide in our healthcare delivery system,” said Scott M. Melville CHPA president and CEO. “Paul is a thoughtful and experienced industry leader who brings a keen strategic vision to the association and a commitment to strong board governance and oversight.”

Sturman leads Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, one of the world’s largest consumer healthcare businesses. He is responsible for the division’s global operations, including the development and marketing of major household brands such as Advil®, Centrum®, Caltrate®, ChapStick®, and Robitussin®. “I’m honored to take on this new role and work closely with the board, our allies, and Capitol Hill to promote the importance of OTC medicines and dietary supplements in the healthcare continuum,” said Sturman. “Shaping policies that continue to provide self-care solutions and cost-effective options is a top priority.”

A veteran of the consumer healthcare industry, Sturman brings great insight to his role as chair of the board. Throughout his career, he has earned a reputation for strategically reinvigorating business performance in positions that include president, U.S. and Global Business Development, New Products, at Wyeth Consumer Healthcare; president, North America, Consumer Healthcare, at Johnson & Johnson; and marketing and sales positions of increasing responsibility at the former Pfizer Consumer Healthcare and Warner-Lambert.

Sturman earned his bachelor’s degree in biology and his master’s degree in business administration from Bucknell University.
